Join the Minnesota Asian Pacific American Bar Association for its 2020 Annual Gala on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 from 4:30-6:00 p.m.

This year has highlighted the absolute necessity to further advance diversity and inclusion. MNAPABA stands for the advancement of APA attorneys toward equality and inclusion, and we cannot effectively achieve this goal without recognizing we are part of broader efforts to advance diversity and inclusion in our professional and greater communities. We must amplify efforts to support each other in our diverse community of professionals, whether Asian, Black, Hispanic, Native American, or other affinity. We can only move forward together.

Join us and prominent attorneys of color in Minnesota as we discuss strengthening relationships and supporting colleagues across affinity groups to advance diversity, inclusion, and antiracism in 2020 and beyond.

Keynote Speaker and Panel

Our keynote speaker is The Honorable Tony Leung speaking on the history of affinity bar organizations in Minnesota and our keynote panel includes a discussion with Ann Anaya, Jerry Blackwell, Don Liu, and Forrest Tahdooahnippah on the topic of "Moving Forward Together" in diversity, inclusion, and antiracism moderated by Ivan Fong.

About Tony Leung

The Honorable Tony N. Leung is the first Asian Pacific American judge in Minnesota. He is currently a federal Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota, appointed in 2011. Before his appointment to the federal bench, Judge Leung served for nearly 17 years as a state District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Fourth Judicial District in Hennepin County. He was first appointed to the state bench by Governor Arne H. Carlson in 1994. Prior to his elevation to the Hennepin County bench, he was an equity partner at the law firm now named Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath. Judge Leung received his bachelor's degree with honors from Yale University and juris doctor from New York University School of Law. He was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to America with his family as a child.

Judge Leung was one of the founding board members of MNAPABA. The National Asian-Pacific American Bar Association awarded him the 2000 Trail Blazers award in Washington, D.C.
