She has built her career in the courtroom and boardroom, working on a wide range of civil litigation matters, with a strong foundation in both plaintiff and defense work. Valerie has served MNAPABA in multiple roles and now serves as the president with a focus on strengthening the sense of community and involvement, providing value to members at every stage of their career, and elevating student scholarship and opportunity. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and trying new foods, learning languages, and hosting dinner parties.

Raoul ShahPresident-Elect | Raoul is an Associate Attorney in the Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice group at Robins Kaplan LLP. He seeks justice and compensation for those who have been injured through no fault of their own, drawing on his trial and litigation experience he gained in his prior career as a prosecutor. During his free time, Raoul enjoys outdoor activities, playing trumpet in a local brass band (B+ Brass), and spending time with his family. |

Particularly, his practice focuses in handling patent applications across multiple jurisdictions. Prior to law school, he was an engineer in the medical device field. Oliver graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Minnesota and a J.D. from Mitchell Hamline School of Law.

He previously clerked for judges at the Hennepin County District Court and the United States District Court. In his free time, he spends walking his dogs and trying out new restaurants with his wife. |
Mingli WuVP of Membership | Mingli Wu is an Assistant General Counsel at Wells Fargo, focusing on capital markets and securities transactions. With a rich professional background, Mingli has served as a capital markets attorney at Faegre Drinker and Mayer Brown. He also clerked for judges in the Fifth Judicial Circuit of South Dakota, including the Honorable Scott P. Myren. Mingli started his legal career in China as an in-house counsel for a national company. He holds a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School and an LLB from China University of Political Science and Law. Mingli enjoys fishing and spending time with his family in his free time. |
Aaron Brown | Aaron Brown is an associate attorney at Larson King, LLP, focusing on commercial litigation, products liability, construction litigation, and complex torts. He represents a wide array of clients, from small mom-and-pop shops to national and international clients across multiple industries. Aaron has significant experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in United States District Courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and in state trial courts in Minnesota and North Dakota. Outside of the office, Aaron enjoys spending time with his wife and children, being overruled during board game disputes, failing to learn new skills (such as fly fishing), and pretending that yardwork counts as exercise. |
Sheila NiazVP of Programming | Sheila Niaz is a patent attorney and litigation associate at Norton Rose Fulbright, where she focuses on intellectual property and product liability disputes. With a background as a software engineer, Sheila works on cutting-edge technologies such as machine learning, IoT devices, and blockchain. She previously clerked for the Honorable Wilhelmina M. Wright and the Honorable Patrick J. Schiltz, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for Minnesota. Sheila serves on the boards of several organizations, where she is committed to promoting diversity and advancing opportunities for underrepresented groups. In addition to her board service, she provides pro bono legal services to underserved communities and entrepreneurs. |
Elvis KimVP of Programming | Seung Sub “Elvis” Kim is an associate at Carlson Caspers, focusing on patent litigation and intellectual property counseling for national and international clients across industries including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and telecommunications. Elvis has extensive experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in patent disputes before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, United States District Courts, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. His expertise also extends to patent prosecution, particularly in pharmaceuticals and cannabinoid-related formulations. Outside the office, Elvis is a dedicated athlete who enjoys pickleball and tennis, and has a developing passion for collecting vinyl records. |
